Cabin 9 - Blue Spruce Lodge (previously Benham's)
- SQM 1
Blue Spruce Lodge is a modified A-frame with three bedrooms, a hot tub, and a wood burning fireplace. There is a king sized bed in the master bedroom, a queen sized bed in the second bedroom, and twins upstairs. There is also a full sized futon in the upstairs sitting area. It can comfortably sleep 7-8.
The living room has a cathedral ceiling, wood burning fireplace, TV with Dish Network and DVD player. There is also a complete kitchen, which includes a microwave and a washer and dryer.
There are hardwood floors throughout and lots of wood trim. This cabin is also air-conditioned for your comfort! The hot tub is on a covered deck that is accessible from both the master bedroom and the living room and there is a grill, hammock and fire ring in the yard.
Linens, towels and a generous portion of fire wood are all provided. At night, the dark star-lit sky will enchant you as you relax in your hot tub or roast s'mores over the fire.
The cabin is only two minutes from Summersville Lake, the largest lake in West Virginia. It has over 28,000 acres of water and 60 miles of shoreline. Boating, water-skiing, swimming, scuba diving, picnicking, fishing, and biking are the favorite activities enjoyed by visitors. Technical rock climbing and whitewater rafting are available year-round, with scheduled whitewater releases below the dam on the world class Gauley River in September and October.
The cabin is only 20 minutes from Fayetteville, named one of America’s Coolest Small Town by Budget Travel Magazine and Matador Networks. Fayetteville is known by most as being the home of the New River Gorge Bridge, the longest arch bridge in the Western Hemisphere. This foodie town, with a huge number of outdoor shops and boutiques, will delight everyone who visits.
The cabin’s location is right off the road to the Carnifex Ferry Battleground State Park. The State Park includes a museum and historical information, which appeals to Civil War and history buffs. Couples and families love the miles of hiking trails, picnic facilities, and famed view of the Gauley River from the park. Hiking trails lead to three different waterfalls.
