Cabin 10 - Black Bear Abode

  • 11 Guests
  • 4 Bedrooms
  • 6 Beds
  • 3 Bathrooms

Black Bear Abode is our second largest cabin.  It has 4 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, hot tub, fireplace, and air-conditioning! The main floor houses the master bedroom which has a king sized bed and a private bath, along with cathedral windows and a stunning view of the forest.  It can comfortably sleep up to 11.

The main floor also has a large great room which includes the living room, dining room, and kitchen. There is a cathedral ceiling adding to the open feel.

The living room area has a fireplace, TV with Dish Network and DVD player. The kitchen is equipped with all major appliances including a microwave and has a large dining area. There is a half bath and a deck on this level as well.

Downstairs in the walk-out basement there are three bedrooms and two full-sized baths. The first bedroom has a king sized bed, the second bedroom has a queen sized bed plus a daybed, and the third bedroom has 2 twin sized beds. The full sized washer and dryer is also located on this level.

There is a hot tub located on a very large, very private, covered deck and a grill on the deck and fire ring in the yard. Linens, towels and a generous portion of fire wood are all provided. At night, the dark star-lit sky will enchant you as you relax in your hot tub or roast s'mores over the fire.

The cabin is only a few minutes drive from Summersville Lake, the largest lake in West Virginia.  It has over 28,000 acres of water and 60 miles of shoreline.  Boating, water-skiing, swimming, scuba diving, picnicking, fishing, and biking are the favorite activities enjoyed by visitors. Technical rock climbing and whitewater rafting are available year-round, with scheduled whitewater releases below the dam on the world class Gauley River in September and October.

The cabin is only 20 minutes from Fayetteville, named one of America’s Coolest Small Town by Budget Travel Magazine and Matador Networks.  Fayetteville is known by most as being the home of the New River Gorge Bridge, the longest arch bridge in the Western Hemisphere.  This foodie town, with a huge number of outdoor shops and boutiques, will delight everyone who visits.

The cabin’s location is right off the road to the Carnifex Ferry Battleground State Park.  The State Park includes a museum and historical information, which appeals to Civil War and history buffs.  Couples and families love the miles of hiking trails, picnic facilities, and famed view of the Gauley River from the park.
